Posted By: han siang "Speedknight" wong - Sunday, May 06, 2012
The 3 generations of MSI laptop that i have owned MSI GE60,MSI GT627, MSI 510C

Here is a mini review of my new laptop MSI GE60 0NC which is their offering based on the Intel Ivy bridge  mobile platform. In this mini review We will run several common benchmarking software to test the capably of this gaming laptop. Do remember that this is the GE series(Also available in 17.3 flavour the GE70) is the 2nd tier for MSI's Gaming laptop (G series) the top tier being the GT Series namely the GT60 and GT70

We shall begin with the system spec:

MSI GE60 System specs:

  • Intel i7-3610QM (2.3Ghz-3.3Ghz, 6MB Cache)
  • nVidia GeForce GT650M 2GB GDDR5
  • 15.6" FHD, Anti-Glare(1920*1080) LED
  • DDR III 4GB+4GB
  • 750GB (SATA) 7200rpm
  • Super Multi
  • Intel Jackson Peak N2230 (2*2 b/g/n) + BT4.0
  • Win7 Home Premium
  • 6 cell

Next we are looking at its form factor it tipping the scale at 2.5kg,its not light iknow, but this is a gaming class laptop. Also as opposed to the Aluminium Chassis found on the GT series, GE series offers glossy plastic but it ain't flimsy either.

At the front you are greeted a row of blue indicator LEDS and a lone SD card slot

The back is absolutely Clean, you can't find anything here

The glossy plastic surface of the top cover, needless to say it would be a fingerprint magnet

The Full HD 15.6 inch Matt surface screen would be a welcoming feature IMHO, I dont like glossy screens,it just reflect too much light.
The left flank, here you can find here kensington notebook lock port,Power connector, the notebook cooler vents, a single USB 2.0 ,HDMI, Dual USB 3.0,the audio connectors.
Here is what you find on the other side, a super Multi-DVD,Another USB2.0,VGA and a Gigabit LAN port
    The Steelseries Chiclet Keyboard

The innards of the laptop yes there is a m-sata port!

Next we will look at the Results for the Benchmarks:
