Gundam Docks at Singapore

Another event for Jpop culture lovers in June! Gundam Dock Singapore will be happening at the very heart of orchard road! Details below:



Bandai Namco Asia, one of the leading toy makers and arcade, mobile and home video game publishers in Japan, and Takashimaya Department Store, presents an iconic exhibition in celebration of the 35th anniversary of GUNDAM model kit and in conjunction with Singapore’s Golden Jubilee – the “Gundam Docks at Singapore”. One of the largest such exhibitions outside Japan, the approximately 4,000sqm showcase will include over 200 models of the phenomenal Gundam series – the first anime based on space war and machines that sparked off the genre of robotic anime. From 4 to 28 June, the exhibition will be held at Takashimaya Square, B2 and Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
Mobile Suit Gundam, a televised anime series about humanity in space colonies, is today one of Japan’s top Popular Culture Icons.

  • Choose your side in the war of robots

The experience begins as two gigantic robots loom above you at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. Witness the fight between Earth Federation vs Principality of Zeon as the RX-78-2 Gundam, the largest Gundam to be showcased outside Japan, come face to face with Char’s Zaku at the heart of Singapore’s Orchard Road.
The Gundam and Zaku are around 6 metres each, at a scale of 1:3, and weighs two tonnes each. Accompanied by daily light and sound shows held in the evenings, this is an activity you cannot miss as the war drama comes to life before your eyes.

Gundam Merchandise and Activities to thrill fans and J-pop lovers alike
Collectors, shoppers and anyone who wants to learn more about Gundam or bring home a piece of this extra-ordinary exhibition, can head down to Takashimaya Square, B2. There will be over 10 booths selling Gundam merchandises including exclusive editions.

  • Four Weeks of History, Excitement and Pure Legend

Said Mr. Takayoshi Oyama, Bandai Namco Singapore’s Hobby Products Dept Manager, “Gundam Docks in Singapore will be Asia’s largest Gundam exhibition and showcase. Singapore was selected to host the show as it is a strategic market for us and a gateway for South-east Asia. In partnership with one of Asia’s best shopping malls, we look forward to delivering a spectacular experience for fans, families, and friends in Singapore, as well as from the region.”
Admission for the exhibition is free, and the exhibition will open from 10am to 9.30pm daily. 

  • Meet the Legend himself – The Pioneer of Mechanic Designers

Fans. will get a chance to meet mechanic designer Kunio Okawara in person. The highly-respected pioneer is Japan’s first mechanic designer, and started his career in 1972. Since then, notable works include Mobile Suit Gundam, Yatterman, The Unchallengeable Daitarn 3, Fang of the Sun Dougram, and Brave Fighter Exkiser. 

Kunio Okawara will meet fans in Singapore on 6 June, during the official opening of the exhibition at Takashimaya.

BACK-ON (Composer and performer of three theme songs for GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS and GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS TRY)

Fans will be able to hear more about his experience during a live talk show.On 20 June, fans will be able to meet the voice actors and actresses (seiyuu) from the anime, GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS TEY in Singapore too. Kazuki Togashi (Voice Actress for Sekai Kamiki), Yuuma Uchida (Voice Actor for Yuuma Kousaka) and Yui Makino (Voice Actress for Fumina Hoshino) will be in Singapore to meet the fans.

Japanese rock band, BACK-ON, who composed and performed three theme songs for GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS and GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS TRY, will join fans in Singapore on 20 June as well. They will perform on stage at Takashimaya Square. This is their debut appearance in Singapore.



  • First time in Singapore – Exclusive Limited Edition Merchandise



In addition to the over 200 models of the Gundam series brought in for the exhibition, fans and collectors can check out a series of limited edition merchandise, some of which are exclusively available only in this exhibition.





Organisers for Gundam Docks at Singapore announced Singapore’s very own SG50 limited edition Gundam model kits today. To be launched and available only during the exhibition, the exclusive Gundam model kit is designed by the legendary mechanic designer Kunio Okawara, who has designed some of the Gundam mechanics well. Sales of the SG50 Gundam model kit starts on 4 June, as part of the the Gundam Docks at Singapore exhibition which runs from 4 – 28 June.

In celebration of Singapore’s 50th Birthday, Bandai Namco Asia has collaborated with acclaimed mechanic designer Kunio Okawara to create Singapore’s only SG50 Gundam Model Kit. The HG RX-78-2 GUNDAM Ver. SG50 will be available for sale at TakashimayaSquare. In addition to the model kit, related SG50 Gundam merchandise will be available during the exhibition. Pricing will be announced closer to date.

Fans who purchase the SG50 GUNDAM Model Kit will stand a chance to get an autograph from Kunio Okawara himself at an autograph session on 6 June, 3pm at Takashimaya.

Leading up to the exhibition, members of the public can look out for a special surprise during the weekend of 30 and 31 May.
